Maybe Sainsbury’s will finally get the message

• I WAS delighted to hear last week that Sainsbury’s latest attempt to convert the old Blackstock Road police station to a supermarket was rejected by the government inspector (Latest store bid rejected, May 31).

I think this is the fourth time it has had an appeal turned down.

Thanks are due to the council and government planning officers for listening to local concerns.

Also, congratulations to the campaigners who continue to combat this unnecessary and destructive proposal.

It is to be hoped that, after so many failures, the supermarket chain will now recognise that its scheme is not only unpopular but simply impractical on this site.

Give it up, Sainsbury’s.
