A knighthood? A peerage? Perhaps not!

• IMPOSSIBLE to disagree with MP Angela Rayner MP that a knighthood for Conor Burns MP would “beggar belief”.

Conor Burns is under investigation over possible inappropriate behaviour.

Also beggaring of belief is the suggestion that Leader of the Opposition Sir Keir Starmer would put forward Tom Watson for elevation to the House of Lords.

What could be more, “inappropriate” than to use parliamentary privilege to make vile, later to be shown as false, allegations, and afraid to make his accusations outside of the chamber, where he would have to defend them in a court of law?

The late Lord Edwin Bramall MC didn’t have the option of hiding in the chamber on June 6 1944.

The suggestion is ludicrous, beyond insult, no decent person would let it happen; or does the Labour Party assume that sleaze is an indispensable ingredient in politics?
