A taste of schadenfreude will do me!

‘What Brexiteers were against was unrestricted immigration from the EU’
• STEPHEN Horne says he experienced schadenfreude on hearing that Brexiteer Tim Martin, owner of Wetherspoon’s, wants a special scheme to allow European Union workers to staff his pubs, (A pint of that schadenfreude please? July 2).
I would like to point out that Brexiteers have never been against immigration as such. They have always recognised that immigrants can bring skills to this country where there are shortages.
What Brexiteers were against was unrestricted immigration from the EU. Anyone could walk in, regardless of whether they could make a worthwhile contribution to the economy of the country.
Schadenfreude works both ways.
As a Brexiteer I was delighted to witness the Covid-19 inoculation programme knock spots off the efforts of the EU, not to mention the recent news that Nissan are to create thousands of new jobs at their Sunderland plant.
So much for the Armageddon predicted by Remainers.
