A NURSERY in West Hampstead will be transferred from council control to a group of parents later this year,  the Town Hall has confirmed.

Acol Children’s Centre, on Acol Road, for under-fives, will be run by Camden Community Nurseries (CNN) after the council approved a detailed business plan and said they could rent the building.

CCN, a not-for-profit organisation, has run Montpelier nursery in Tufnell Park and Sington nursery in Bloomsbury for 35 years.

Ruth Keppeler, co-chairwoman of CCN, said: “We are delighted there is an opportunity to use the Acol building and open a new nursery providing daycare for under-fives.”

A Town Hall spokesman said the transfer would be “seamless” and the new nursery would open as soon as possible after the closure of Acol, on Acol Road, on August 17.
