An open letter to Islington Cllr Rowena Champion
• WE, Barnsbury Laycock Community Streets, would like to express our appreciation of all the hard work you, your fellow councillors, and the council’s LV, liveable neighbourhood, team have done to create an extensive proposal for Barnsbury Laycock.
Overall we are pleased with the design for phase 1 – albeit with reservations about Liverpool Road – and can see how much this will benefit the residents and achieve a cleaner, greener, safer, friendlier, and more liveable neighbourhood.
Expanding the benefits enjoyed by those already living in historic LTNs across the wider neighbourhood is exactly the right thing to do.
As you may know, we have over 500 subscribers in our organisation www.barnsburylaycock.uk and we will continue to support the council in its ambitions to achieve a fairer environment for all.
We look forward to engaging with you at the various in-person and online opportunities. We also hope and expect that this phase 1 will be followed swiftly by future phases to bring the anticipated benefits to the north of – and including – Mackenzie Road and to the south of – and including – Copenhagen Street.
We also expect that you will devise a plan for Liverpool Road which will significantly reduce the current unacceptable traffic levels.
Thank you.
JOHN HARTLEY
