ANPR will only work if residents can move freely into and through LTNs

• THE use of ANPR, automatic number-plate recognition, cameras as advocated by the Liberal Democrats will only work if it allows all residents to pass freely into and through LTNs, rather than still limiting access to those living within individual schemes, (Use tech to free residents from streets scheme, January 29)

Under the current Highbury West LTN scheme Highbury East residents can only access the Nag’s Head shopping hub via Highbury Corner or Finsbury Park, on main roads that are now gridlocked.

A car journey to Holloway, which previously took around 10 minutes, now takes about 45. The same journey by bus, around an hour. This is seriously threatening the viability of the Nag’s Head shopping area.
