Archway guerrilla gardeners harvest rich crop of grumbles

• BEHIND the façade of social concern, there is the stench of hypocrisy in Islington.

Last week, some people in my friend’s street near Archway did a bit of guerrilla gardening. They brightened up the street with big bushes and plants in pots and planted some new flowers in the tree pits.

But not everybody was pleased. Some neighbours said that “you don’t have permission”. Others stated it was anti-social.

These people should get out more to find out the meaning of anti-social. The person who made this accusation has a very large SUV car. It could be argued that a large car is by definition anti-social.

Plants are needed in the city for climate change mitigation and to enable children to learn about them. They brighten up the dreary urban landscape. Big cars are not needed and should be taxed extra for parking space. What do others think?
