Stephanie Smith set up the Archway With Words festival, which begins on September 14
THE director of an annual literary festival in Archway has promised a “work of art” for visitors.
Stephanie Smith is preparing for Archway With Words which will take over ten venues from September 14 to 21.
She said: “I see this festival as a work of art. It’s something that didn’t exist before, it’s been created for people to enjoy cultural events and dip into worlds they may never have encountered before.”
Now in its seventh year, Fleabag actor Bill Paterson, chef Andi Oliver and author Joanne Harris, will be speaking alongside dozens of others.
Ms Smith said she wanted to include science writers to the festival line up because non-fiction was a genre she particularly enjoyed.
“I have rheumatoid arthritis and suffered with crippling pain for ten years. Thanks to science, I receive medication that stops this and I think that’s why I am so fascinated by the subject,” she said.
Scientists who are speaking this year include Professor Lloyd Peck on the Antarctic’s cold climate and Nieske Vergunst on robots.
