Archway’s magnIficent plaza is a tribute to planners
Friday, 7th April 2017
• YOU might wonder what the protests were about when you have a look at the new Archway hub.
Here we have something transformed from what was an industrial roundabout with visions of a decaying Detroit to being a magnificent Archway plaza.
It connects us with that lonely island bearing a pub/nightclub, taxi offices, an optician and charity shop. This island previously has been so hard to reach, through having to wait at traffic lights or risk traffic in crossing the road.
It has a cycle lane running through it with places to secure your bicycle. There are young trees planted. There is plenty of space for pedestrians coming and going out of Archway Tube and for those going shopping, and, of course, those coming to stay in the huge new Premier Inn and for those living in the converted Archway Tower and other places of residence now under refurbishment.
Previously just being at this hub was a trial. Now, all of that has changed enough to bring joy in going there. Congratulations to the planners and to those involved in this construction.
