”Islington Council: dividing communities’, is this how the council wishes to be seen?’

• THE many letters in your October 20 issue make it clear that the proposed Barnsbury-Laycock LN, liveable neighbourhood, scheme is divisive.

“Islington Council: dividing communities”, is this how the council wishes to be seen? Dividing communities physically by setting up barriers? Dividing communities mentally by exciting a war of words?

The plight of residents with broken lifts in 16-storey blocks in Old Street is highlighted on the front page in the same issue.

“Islington Council: neglecting communities”, is this how the council wishes to be seen?

Wouldn’t it be better for Islington to maintain its housing stock in good condition rather than divert money to a marginal and divisive scheme in leafy Barnsbury, fortunately already a very decent place to live?
