ARSENAL successfully overturned a one-goal deficit to book their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League tonight (Wednesday) with a stunning victory over Bayern Munich.

The Frauen-Bundesliga leaders travelled to north London boasting a 1-0 first-leg lead over the Gunners thanks to Lea Schuller’s thumping header at the Allianz Arena just over a week ago.

But Jonas Eidevall’s resurgent side put in clinical display on home turf, scoring twice within the first 25 minutes at the Emirates Stadium to turn the tie around.

Frida Maanum opened the scoring with one of the goals of the season, rifling the ball beautifully into the top corner from all of 20-yards after being teed up by a clever flick from Leah Williamson.

The majority of the 21,000-plus crowd were cheering again within minutes when Stina Blackstenius got on the end of Katie McCabe’s inch-perfect cross to power home a header from six yards.

Arsenal would have won by an even greater margin if it hadn’t been for Bayern goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs, who made a series of smart saves in an inspired performance.

The Gunners will now face either PSG or Wolfsburg for a place in the Champions League final on June 3.
