“OI driver, tune into Islington!”
So starts the video – created to promote the Arsenal away kit for the new season – as Bukayo Saka tells the driver what he wants to listen to as the team settle on the players’ coach.
The winger clearly knows what’s hot in the borough as the driver tunes into an imaginary radio station, “Islington FM,” that tells us it is broadcasting “Islington’s finest” new artists.
Within moments, the shot cuts to a film set with Top Boy’s Ashley Walters listening to the sounds of AntsLive, the Islington rapper and TikTok hitmaker whose song, Number One Candidate, is the backing track to the video.
A range of famous faces grace the screen, including Sex Education actor Asa Butterfield and former Spandau Ballet bassist Martin Kemp; both from Islington and both Arsenal fans. Highbury Youth Choir also make an appearance alongside Arsenal players William Saliba, captain Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli in the three-minute video, which has racked up 32,000 views since Wednesday.
