VISITORS were treated to a session of hula-hooping at newly-opened Archway Square on Saturday.

Musicians Archway Mountain Lightnin’ Boys took to the stage to play bluegrass music.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was there to cast his vote in a ballot to name the square. Five names have been suggested: Orchid Square, Navigator Square, People’s Place, Telford Square and Tollhouse Square. They refer to the area’s connections with civil engineer Thomas Telford, orchid collector Benjamin Williams and the Irish community.

People’s Place symbolises how the spot was once dominated by vehicles but has now been pedestrianised. Mr Corbyn refused to say how he voted. Voting ends on October 6.
