Mr Corbyn with charity volunteers

JEREMY Corbyn took a break from the campaign trail to drop in at Mildmay Festival of Nature in Newington Green on Sunday.

He visited the offices of organisers The Garden Classroom, an education charity which aims to connects residents with nature.

Mr Corbyn spoke to volunteers and charity chief executive Marnie Rose about his passion for his allotment, which he still tends regularly.

Ms Rose said: “As a home-grown, national-award-winning Islington charity, we felt touched that Jeremy came to acknowledge our work and the huge effort that went into delivering Islington’s and London’s first Festival of Nature over the weekend. We felt appreciated and it has motivated us to do more.”

Organiser Amy Williamson added: “He [Mr Corbyn] said he has an allotment and that he’s passionate about that lifestyle. He said that even now he still goes every week.”
