Barnard Park: Why did it take so long to back down?
Friday, 27th October 2017

Young footballers campaigned against plans for Barnard Park
• I HAVE been astonished by the way Islington Council has hummed and hawed over the size of the football pitch at Barnard Park in Barnsbury (‘We are basking in victory,’ say pitch-battle footballers, October 20).
The council has now backed down yet did it need to wait so long before the rational decision was made? Does it not make the council look slow and out of touch with the public?
Labour has absolute power in Islington but some might argue that it has done absolutely nothing to make the borough brighter and better.
If this is all it can do with absolute power locally – that is, on a small scale – what damage could it do to the country if Corbyn and Thornberry were in charge?
