Beware of words that make good lifestyle changes look bad
Friday, 9th November 2018
• I’M confused by one of last week’s Tribune letters because no one makes money by walking their kids to school, (Are school traffic bans yet another money-spinner? November 2).
Never mind the fact that Islington’s budget has been cut by the government by millions over the past few years. Car manufacturers and fuel distributors make money from people’s reluctance to use their cars less, especially in London, where public transport is great.
Using cars less is good for tackling climate change, reduces air pollution locally, and empowers more children (and adults) to walk safely around Finsbury Park.
We should be congratulating Ambler Primary School for this move, especially as the most recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report has given us just 12 years to start living differently. Beware of words that make good lifestyle changes look bad.
