Islington Community Day-09

LIVE music and local wares were the order of the day at the Whittington Park Community Centre’s “Big Day Out”.

A full day of activities for all ages popped up in the community centre on Yerbury Road, featuring music by local singer Rona, ukulele band The Ukes, and two choirs including Sing for Freedom, made up of torture survivors who bring a spirit of solidarity and hope.

As well as classic family activities like a bouncy castle, climbing wall and face painting, there were opportunities to try out free tasters of activities including Pickleball, Zumba and shooting hoops.

There was even a speech from Islington Mayor Jason Jackson, who enjoyed strolling through the stalls of local people selling jewellery, clothing and handmade art.
