Biker hurt in crash at new-look junction
Friday, 17th February 2017
A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital after colliding with a bus which was turning in Archway Road.
The accident occurred close to the junction with Waterlow Road, just before 3pm on Wednesday. The man, in his 40s, was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, in Paddington. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
Chris Sparks, of the nearby Charlotte Despard pub, said: “I held his hand and phoned his wife. He had a broken leg and cuts.”
Up to 40 buses an hour now turn on Archway Road after Transport for London’s redesign of the Archway gyratory. The new layout has been criticised as “dangerous” by some, including Mr Sparks.
TfL’s bus chief Tony Akers said: “Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist at this time. A full investigation is underway.”
There have been no arrests.
