Brexit: MP inconsistent over which constituents she represents

Emily Thornberry: ‘Repeats mantra that it is the will of the people’
• EMILY Thornberry is inconsistent in saying that she need not represent the views of her constituents on Brexit because she should represent the views of those in other constituencies who did vote to leave Europe (Thornberry: We can’t block Article 50, January 27).
This inconsistency is all the more glaring when she repeats the mantra that it is the “will of the people” when fewer than 40 per cent of the population were swayed by a package of lies pumped up by charismatic, TV-friendly advocates supported by the drumbeat of a narrow-minded press stirring up the dark forces as they did in the 1930s.
Those who voted for Brexit as a protest because they feel they have been left behind by the “political class” will be the first to suffer from Brexit. Addressing directly their legitimate concerns should be meat and drink for the Labour Party.
