Brigade investigating after fire engines collide
Six firefighters injured in crash while responding to a call in Islington

THE London Fire Brigade has begun a probe into a collision that left six firefighters in hospital.
Two fire engines crashed at the junction of Farringdon Road and Clerkenwell Road at 10.17pm on January 3 while responding to a call in Islington.
The incident left six firefighters with injuries and they were rushed to hospital. Since then, five have been discharged following treatment and checks, and it is hoped the remaining firefighter will be ready to leave hospital soon.
Pat Goulbourne, the London Fire Brigade assistant commissioner, said: “All of the brigade staff who were involved in this incident continue to receive welfare support and we would like to thank our partners for their assistance.
“The circumstances surrounding the collision are under investigation.”
The Metropolitan Police attended the collision but confirmed that they are not investigating.
