Bring back park police

Friday, 22nd September 2017

• I HAVE been the victim of a knife robbery in Finsbury Park.

On another occasion a young girl came to me asking me to escort her from the park as a man was following her and making obscene comments. I took her out of the park and saw the man hiding in the bushes.

For some time people have expressed concern that park police have been done away with. They could arrive within minutes, but victims must now ring 999. By the time police arrive the suspects have gone.

Although Haringey is responsible for the park, concern has been expressed by Islington residents who use the park and may become victims. Abolition of the park police has been a shortsighted cut too far.
