It can only be a topping out ceremony – and this time council snappers were there to see bricks laid at the highest point of a new development at Dixon Clark Court.

The project has rarely been away from the headlines, as campaigners fought hard to save trees on the estate ahead of the works – and members Extinction Rebellion attempted a tunnel protest.

But the Town Hall always said it would be undeterred from creating more council homes by adding new buildings around the existing residential block.

Of the 41 new homes in the development, 27 will be for council tenants.
