Buildings big enough for families

• CONSERVATION areas were created to preserve the historic and original streetscapes in the borough, of which we are lucky to have a good number.
If people want to alter the external appearance of their homes then they should not buy houses in conservation areas.
The three- and four-storey late Georgian houses which are found in Islington’s squares and terraces are quite big enough for modern families and if the accommodation is configured wisely can easily provide four bedrooms.
In Lloyd Baker Street, where I live, with its three-storey houses, there are no roof extensions so the original skyline remains intact, and looks great.
Practically all the houses, both council and owner-occupied, have put bedrooms in the basement as well as the first floor, leaving the ground floor for the kitchen / diner and living rooms. It’s a perfectly reasonable arrangement.
