LABOUR held its seat in Bunhill today as the party comfortably saw off challengers in five by-elections held this week.
Valerie Bossman-Quarshie won the vacant Bunhill seat with 1960 votes, well ahead of the Conservative’s Zak Vora who polled 744.
Cllr Bossman-Quarshie said: “I can’t believe it, it’s completely amazing.
“I’m not going to be a councillor who sits on their arse all day and does nothing. There is no such thing as a safe seat and I feel so honoured that the community trusts me.
“I’m going to have to run again in the next few months so I’m taking nothing for granted.”
Boroughwide council elections are due in Islington next year.
