THE front of a bus was destroyed in a collision near Angel station following a police chase across London.
A man in his 30s was being pursued by officers on Saturday afternoon when his car collided with a 38 bus in City Road at around 2.15pm, causing it to crash into a traffic light.
Police were chasing the man following reports of a knifepoint robbery in Mile End Road earlier that day.
The car’s passenger attempted to flee but was chased and arrested by officers. Both men have since been charged.
A Metropolitan Police statement said: “Officers attended the collision alongside the London Ambulance Service, the London Fire Brigade and the police helicopter (National Police Air Service).
“The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, was arrested at the scene for dangerous driving and robbery.
“His injuries were assessed at the scene where they were found to be minor.
“The passenger of the car, also a man, was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon following a foot chase.
“He has been taken to hospital for treatment and we await an update on his condition.
“The bus driver’s injuries were also assessed at the scene and found to be minor.
“No further injuries have been reported. Enquiries continue.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting CAD 3630/17JAN.”
