ONE of the most senior councillors at the Town Hall is to step down after 16 years.
Cabinet member Abdul Hai told colleagues that he would not restand at next year’s boroughwide elections. He has been among the top-table executive councillors for more than a decade.

“It’s time for me to step aside and make way for a new generation of Labour councillors to deliver public services based on our shared values of tackling inequality and social injustice,” he told members.
“I will leave next year in the knowledge that the council is under Georgia [Gould]’s leadership and in a strong position to navigate through tough times.”
