FANCY getting a potentially priceless artwork for just £85?
Islington artist Sir Grayson Perry, and actor, director, producer and Sherlock creator, Mark Gatiss, are among the artists who have created a work for The National Brain Appeal’s annual fundraiser called A Letter in Mind.
Each is designed on an envelope and displayed anonymously for £85 each.

Ishbel Myerscough and Chantal Joffe are two other prestigious Islington artists who are making works for this year’s appeal.
“I like that it is egalitarian in that all the artworks are anonymous and all artists are equally represented. I don’t like hierarchy, I much prefer that it is not about names – I think all artists like that. There is less pressure on the artist. It’s not a threat,” said Ms Joffe.
Ms Myerscough, who went to Highbury Fields School, said: “We always doodled on envelopes as children.
“My mother, if she saw a bird or a cat through the window, would find the nearest thing on the kitchen table to draw them on, usually an envelope

“When we cleared out Mum’s house after she died, we found so many of her drawings on envelopes.”
A total of 730 artworks will be displayed in Gallery Different in Fitzrovia.
The exhibition also takes place online at aletterinmind.org
