THOUSANDS flocked to City Road Basin for the annual Angel Canal Festival on Sunday.

Walkways were the scene of a huge party, with revellers admiring boats and learning about the history of the canal.

The event is run by the Canal & River Trust.

The festival featured an Islington canal heritage exhibition hosted by London Canal Museum on a barge.

Carolyn Clark, a member of Regent’s Canal heritage group, said: “We were bowled over by the number of people who came to the exhibition.”

Free guided walks this weekend will explore life on the canal. You can register your place on a walk at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/regents-canal-two-hundred-years-on-tickets
