Carnival on the Cally Road

Friday, 1st July

THE carnival is coming to Cally Road this Sunday for one of the biggest celebrations in the borough’s calendar.

To mark the Cally festival’s tenth birthday, organisers will be honouring the community’s unsung heroes, with residents asked to nominate their “Cally Champion” – someone who deserves recognition for their community work.

This can be done online or via a form available from the West Library in Thornhill Square.

On the main stage at Saturday’s events, local artists will be playing jazz, funk, hip-hop and soul, while the World Music Stage has a line-up of African music, country music and folk.

Expect street theatre, food, face-painting and fairground rides, along with poetry readings and a photography exhibition – among much, much more. It runs from noon to 6pm.
