Central London’s women lost out to a highly ranked Essex team on Sunday

MIXED turns at the table have done little to dampen the optimism surrounding pool players representing the Central London women’s team.

On Sunday they put in a spirited showing away to Essex in the Eastern region of the Blackball County Pool League, losing 19-9 against a squad often ranked among the favourites to win not only regional titles – but national accolades, too.

The result came just a week after Central London chalked up “a memorable” victory over Essex at the Hurricane Room in King’s Cross.

The home side won the tie 16-12 – and despite six of those precious points being awarded because a depleted Essex side were unable to put up a player, Central London captain Ursula Ali is adamant that her potters are “getting better all the time”.

She said: “Our recent win against Essex proves that we are getting stronger as a team.

“We proved that we are a team to be reckoned with in the region and I’m incredibly proud of our ladies players and of the journey that we are on as a team. I firmly believe that this season can be our most successful one yet.”
