Centre is not user-friendly

• FOUR years ago I joined a disabled swimming club at the Archway Leisure Centre. I was simply given a membership card and then paid my way, each visit, always enjoying a good swim.

Post-lockdown all this has changed for the worst! Potential users must now book online, thus posing problems for those not computer-literate or who, like me, have bad eyesight.

The youthful staff always seemed quite unable to get the booking system to work, thereby creating queues of annoyed visitors, some of them distraught children with disabilities.

One staff member told me to keep trying to get through online, both at home and there on the premises. Another staff member got so frustrated that she just let people go straight in.

The final straw came when yet another staff member told me that the disabled session was nothing to do with him! So who then runs it, I asked. And what about if a swimmer became ill or injured?

There are legal issues here that cannot be ignored. Archway Leisure Centre is in my opinion no longer “user-friendly”.

You can’t even speak to anyone by phone as all you get are the automated messages. Try it for yourself!
