New project wants to offer ventures shops rent-free

• I LAUGHED out loud when I opened your newspaper and read the idea of Florence Schecter, director of Camden’s Vagina Museum, to let fledgling ventures move in to empty shops in Chalk Farm Road, free of rent and on a temporary basis, (Landlord urged to offer up empty units, February 11).

Long before Ms Schecter was born, most of the shops in Chalk Farm Road were occupied on a rent-free temporary basis. It was called “squatting”.
