Christmas sorting office

FOR anybody looking to write a letter to Father Christmas this year, a postbox to the North Pole will be open in Islington tomorrow (Saturday).

From midday until 5pm, Islington Square off Upper Street will be home to “The Christmas Sorting Office”, a pop-up space where children can write and send their cards to Santa and adults can commission handmade gift tags or try their hand at wreath-making.

Other shops and cafes will also be offering special discounts and seasonal treats, like mulled wine and mince pies at jewellery shop The Wearer, or prosecco and traditional Danish treats at Scandinavian clothes shop Wild Swans.

The Odeon will be showing family favourites Home Alone and Elf at 10am and 10.30am respectively, and actors from the King’s Head Theatre’s pantomime Cinderella will be doing a meet-and-greet.

Islington Square’s charity partner, Islington Giving, will be selling its volunteer-made crackers all day, and you can also take part in a festive raffle.

With a food market, Urban Food Fest, also on offer, there truly does seem to be something for everyone – even dogs, who can sniff out treats and toys at dog-friendly market Woof About.
