A POLICE officer accused of delivering a cup of coffee to a colleague using sirens and blue lights to arrive faster will face disciplinary proceedings, an internal police investigation ruled last month.
The officer will now have to answer questions about his behaviour on August 27, after a member of the public reported him.
The initial investigator found the officer “had breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour for police officers, but that learning through reflective practice would adequately address this”.
However the senior investigating officer overturned this finding. “After careful consideration it is my determination that this matter should result in disciplinary proceedings, and I have determined that this will take the form of a Misconduct Meeting,” they said.
Gordon McIntosh reported the officer’s actions after he claimed he saw him racing through zebra crossings, beeping at pedestrians and driving at speed before coming to a stop outside Islington police station in Tolpuddle Street in Angel where he handed a colleague a coffee. When challenged, it has been claimed he said he was using his ‘blues and twos’ because he was en route to a murder.
