THE Coronet pub has been sold after almost a year on the market.
The Holloway Road pub was on Wetherspoons’ sales list and has now been bought by property tycoon David Nourani, the chief executive of DN Property London, for an unknown sum. He said his “intention” is that The Coronet will continue to trade as a pub, although an opening date for the new management has not been announced.
The building is registered as an asset of community value, and any changes to the look of the building would need planning permission.
The historic pub was once the Savoy cinema, opened in 1940 in the building designed by William Glenn. The cinema was renamed the ABC in 1962, before finally being called The Coronet in 1979.
The building was also used as a snooker hall and amusement arcade before JD Wetherspoons bought it in 1996 and turned it into a pub.
Mr Nourani did not respond in time to a request for comment before we went to press last night (Thursday).
