RESIDENTS of Islington’s Wenlake and Holly Park estates could be made to pay more than £9 extra per week to fund new CCTV cameras.

Islington Council is proposing to install CCTV on both estates to help deter crime and anti-social behaviour.

The move will only go ahead if more than 30 per cent of residents respond to a ballot, and if at least 51 per cent vote in favour.

In Holly Park the cameras will cost each household an extra £9.46 per week – nearly £500 per year.

At Wenlake, residents will vote on how many cameras they want, with possible cost ranging from £2.97 to £9.56 per household per week.
