SKYROCKETING energy prices will see the Town Hall take a hit of more than £30million in the coming year, it was claimed this week.

Caledonian ward councillor Paul Convery tweeted estimated costs for everything from street lighting to heating schools.

Domestic customers have already been warned that they face eye-watering rises to their monthly bills from next month, but businesses and local authorities are warning that they too will be severely hit.

A new prime minister is due to be announced next week with demands already mounting for a government rescue package.
