BASKETBALL superstars Team USA trained at City, St George’s, University of London, in preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The team touched down in London on July 18, and took to the university courts in Clerkenwell in preparation for the men’s showcase games against South Sudan and Germany, and the women’s against Germany, at the O2.

Some court training sessions allowed access to the public who were, on invitation, able to observe the star-studded team up close as they made ready for the Games.

According to a press release from City, St George’s, the American ambassador to the UK, Jane D Hartley, also visited the team to wish the players luck ahead of their departure to Paris.

The university’s head of sport and leisure, Tom Edwards, said: “It has been a privilege to host some of the world’s most talented athletes at CitySport over the past week as both squads prepared for the pre-Olympic warm-up games. We now wish them the best of luck in the fixtures in Paris itself.”

The team also took the opportunity to explore London, with a video posted on YouTube showing part of the men’s team on an tube train, and a post from USA Basketball on X showing the women’s team posing on an open-top bus.

The team left Islington on July 23 to travel to France, where both the men and women have thus far won every game.
