Cut costs by reducing the number of councillors

Friday, 17th November 2017

• IT is shocking to read that Islington Council is running out of money (£16m Islington council budget black hole sparks cuts fear, November 10).

I don’t think anyone in Islington would support council tax rises, as they are already oppressed enough, so here are a few ways to cut costs: reduce the number of councillors, cut their expenses and reduce the chief executive’s office costs.

They could also stop spending a cool £1million on political PR as I don’t want to see the red-faced failures of Islington promoting themselves before ordinary people and services. Based on their Islington Council performance, none should be allowed to stand as MPs.
