Cut the waste not the trees

Friday, 23rd April 2021

• PLEASE will Islington Council, which says it champions biodiversity and reducing climate change, explain why it has reduced two trees in my road to trunks with a few bare branches in the past two weeks?

Neither tree was diseased, overgrown, causing root damage, or in anyone’s way; and both were crab apples which were just coming into bloom so would have provided food and shelter for insects and birds. This was a waste of our council taxes and harmful for the environment.

Islington Council needs to practise what it preaches and stop cutting non-dangerous trees in the spring, to give wildlife and residents a chance to enjoy the environmental and mental health benefits of our trees.
