Untold London’s Dan Carrier delivers another gem from a swish tailor in Jermyn Street
HI there, we’re off!
Our new film channel telling some of the lesser known stories from London’s history is up and running.
Untold London’s first viewers heard our feature writer and resident historian Dan Carrier tell the story of the stray cat who walked into a posh tailors and stayed forever – literally, as Binks was stuffed and still looks down on the shop from a shelf.
Dan’s tour has also taken us to the takeoff location from where the first English person – and maybe the first Irish person – flew, and explained how an earl dealt with naughty neighbours tossing oyster shells over a wall and into in his garden.
There was also time to hear about the 1920s coffee shop, Sandy’s – which sounded like an amazing after dark stop in central London.
We’ll be uploading more stories every week, so start watching Dan’s walkabout now.
All the films will be at youtube.com/@untoldldn
