CLIMATE-conscious community groups, businesses and stall-holders filled the Upper Street Assembly Hall this week for the annual Islington Sustainability Fair.
The free drop-in event, organised by Islington Sustainability Network, was a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to repair their broken belongings – be they lamps, toasters, clothing, toys or bicycles.
It was a day for renewing, reusing and upcycling whatever bits and bobs had a little bit more life left in them – saving money and sparing the environment too.

Islington Fixers were on hand to mend electronics, Kundakala did alterations and hemming, Play It Again Toys was true to its name in fixing up old playthings and trusty Dr Bike was on hand to check over two-wheelers.
The fair also gave visitors a chance to browse the wares from sustainable businesses, including Camden Passage-born Root Co, a non-alcoholic ginger beer whose five ingredient recipe was dreamed up in founder Will Englander’s kitchen after months of iterations.
There were quizzes for anyone wanting to learn more about climate change, with one on energy by solar panel gurus Power Up North London, and another on food waste by community group Islington Environmental Alliance.
Islington North MP Jeremy Corbyn could be seen strolling through the aisles chatting to stall-holders.
