Does Upper Street need all these signs?

Friday, 12th May 2017

• UPPER Street is really suffering from way too many ugly street signs. There are hundreds of mostly pointless, huge signs, any excuse for yet another sticking out on pavements. Someone’s earning a fortune putting them in as they seem to breed like rabbits.

Now my own Theberton Street has its unwanted family of signs stating the bleeding obvious and totally ruining the view towards Upper Street. There’s no attempt to use the lamppost a couple of feet away, or the old unused one. No, let’s stick yet another pole in the ground and put two massive signs up.

If it’s all about safety, what about the safety of people using the pavement? If it’s all about the environment, why be so intent on making our streets look ugly. And if it’s about being so proud of the 20mph limit, we get it. You hate cars.
