Evacuation amid fire at library building

FIREFIGHTERS were called to an electrical fire at a library building near the Barbican on Wednesday.

A high voltage transformer in an electrical substation had overheated and burnt out. Twenty people left the building in Aldermanbury before crews arrived.

The London Fire Brigade was called at 06.37 and had resolved the incident 90 minutes later.

Crews from Dowgate, Whitechapel, Dockhead and Islington Fire Stations were at the scene.
