Amy Pollard: Let’s rediscover magic of post

A MENTAL health expert has launched a Valentine’s Day mail project that will see more than a thousand love letters sent to strangers struggling in lockdown.

Amy Pollard, of Cressida Road, Archway, launched the “Kindness by Post” during the first virus restrictions which led to thousands exchanging cards.

Now the mother-of-two has called on the public to get involved again to bring some goodwill to lonely households this Valentine’s Day (Sunday).

“We’re all feeling a bit zoomed-out and it’s time to rediscover the magic of proper post,” she said.

Some of the messages

“We’re hearing from people that being part of it helps them to feel less afraid of strangers and remember that we’re all going through the same thing, sharing similar worries and fears.”

Game of Thrones actor Indira Varma took part in the initiative last year and said: ”The time and effort thousands are putting into these cards is a testament to the kindness of strangers.

“It sends an important, hopeful message about the kind of country we live in.”

The initiative is run by the Mental Health Collective which was founded by Ms Pollard.
