AN OLYMPIC hero became a fruit seller for the day at the long awaited opening of Aldi on the Holloway Road this week.
On Thursday, Team GB rower and gold medallist Morgan Bolding joined children from Sacred Heart Primary School to cut the red-ribbon at the new store. Mr Bolding distributed bags of fruit to the first 30 customers in the queue, before delivering an assembly to pupils about the benefits of healthy food, the importance of exercise, and believing in yourself.

GB Athlete Morgan Bolding and Store Manager Nadya Zhegova cut the ribbon with children from Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School.
He said it was “an honour” to talk to pupils about “how it can be fun to plan and prepare meals as a family.”
The children were also tasked with making posters about what healthy eating means to them, and Mr Bolding presented the winner with a £20 voucher – for the new Aldi, of course.
This is the second Aldi to land on Holloway Road, and local charities will be able to sign up to collect surplus perishable foods from the store at the end of every day.
