Sprinter Luke Lennon-Ford goes back to school
PRIMARY school pupils were treated to a jam-packed schedule of sport and dance in a health and wellbeing festival.
Children at Hugh Myddelton School in Clerkenwell were given time off classes last week to enjoy activities including boxercise, Zumba, athletics, tag-rugby and more.
PE teacher Carolyn Conway said: “Some of the kids at this school live in really small flats and don’t necessarily have the space to muck about. They’ve had nothing like this all year.”
Sports day at the school had previously been cancelled because of coronavirus restrictions.
Instead, they roped in a string of guests to help keep the children on their toes. Luke Lennon-Ford – a 400m sprinter and member of Team GB in the 2012 London games – put them through their paces on the running track.
And dancer Wade Lewin, who was most recently seen in the Netflix hit Bridgerton and who has danced at nearby Sadler’s Wells, taught students some of his moves.
“Every boy in this school has danced, without even questioning it, which is amazing,” said Rachel Black, one of the school’s governors.
