A NEW “community spirited” pottery studio is set to arrive in the borough, writes Alisa Butterwick.

The Kiln Rooms have announced a new studio at Eagle Court in Farringdon.

They say they want to make ceramics more accessible in the aftermath of cuts to art teaching in schools.

The founders Ben Cooper and Stuart Carey say they started the business because they were frustrated by the lack of ceramic education.

Lisa Darrer, the general manager of the new shop, said ceramic making teaches you a lot about failure. “Things don’t always go to plan, and that’s OK,” she said, describing the studio as being an effective place “to switch off and have a creative outlet”.

She added: “People are reaching out from the local community to say how excited they are. It’s been really lovely to get such positive feedback ahead of opening.”

The studio is set to open in March of this year.
