A LANDLORD is offering up to 20 newly built studio flats in Finsbury Park for NHS staff to live in for free.

The Crouch End resident, who wants to remain anonymous, has said that he felt that he wanted to do anything he could to in this time of national crisis to support staff at any nearby hospital.

He also said that once the tenants had moved in he would call the utility companies and ask them to waive their bills, and if they did not he would pay them himself.

He told the Tribune: “This, coronavirus, is such a huge event. This is about surviving. We all have to do as much as we can. I cannot in all conscience go to hospital if I am not helping out in any way I can now.

“Would I be able to look those doctors in the eyes comfortably if either myself or my children have to go to hospital and I did not do everything I can to help them?”

He added: “I kept hearing stories of doctors and nurses who have had to isolate themselves away from their families to protect them from coronavirus. It’s heartbreaking.”

The landlord said that two of the studios had already been taken up.

Estate agents Hemmingfords, based in Old Street, are acting as the go-between for the landlord and any hospitals or medical institutions who are interested. You can contact them on 020 3890 7470
