THE trial of five men accused of killing 15-year-old Leonardo Reid began at the Old Bailey on Monday.

Leonardo, who was from Archway, died after being stabbed at the filming of a music video in Elthorne Road in June 2023.

Two other men were also stabbed at the scene. One of them, Klevi Shekaj, 23, died from his injuries, while the other survived.

The murder trial is now under way, with Jason Furtado, Abel Chunda, Eden Clark, Xavier Poponne, and Lorik Lupqi, all in their 20s, charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder.

The killings coincided with the 15th anniversary of the death of Ben Kinsella, which led to marches and calls for action against knife crime across Islington.

Leonardo was described after his death as a “bright and popular boy” who loved football, music, and his family.

The trial is due to last eight weeks.
